REFLECTION
Do you ever find yourself thinking about what you “need” in order to be happier? When those thoughts come, do they line up with what our culture tells us we should have?
Are you worried about where you are in life’s timeline, setting goals for each chapter you enter? Do those goals include God, or are they focused elsewhere?
Do you ever catch yourself comparing your life to others, even to your parents? Do you recognize that you have a choice, to be content with what you have and where you are right now?
How often do your thoughts circle around what you lack, and how might that shape the way you treat those around you? Do your thoughts tend to drain and deflate you, or do they fill you with gratitude for what God has already given?
PERSONAL REFLECTION
If I don’t have it, then it’s likely something I want, not something I truly need. I need to trust more deeply that God will replenish whatever I give. I’m working on dedicating more of my time to my family and to being in His Word.
I’m serving at church, giving my time and using my strengths to support the events that build up His community. I’m learning to trust Him more fully and to be intentional with how I spend my days.
Still, I need to pray for a heart that is completely content with where I am in life, trusting that what I already have is enough. I need to slow down, to rest in the truth that God has me exactly where I’m supposed to be. And I want to look at each blessing in my life with a deeper spirit of gratitude. - Angie
“True Godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.”
“A life lived in faith and trust in God, with a heart of contentment, is far more valuable than material wealth or possessions. Our time here is temporary, and what truly matters is the strength of our character and the depth of our faith.” - Angie
“If we have food and clothing with these we shall be content (satisfied).”
“Anything beyond our basic necessities is a blessing, but it should never be the foundation of our joy. Cultivate a lifestyle of gratitude, remain mindful of greed, and keep your focus on your spiritual well-being.” - Angie
“Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He himself has said, ‘I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake (abandon) you.”
“Loving money can draw us away from what truly matters, our relationship with God and our responsibilities to others. Learn to find satisfaction in what you already have. When struggles arise or insecurities surface, take comfort in knowing that God is with you, supporting you through every challenge. He promises His presence and strength, and by leaning on His promises, we can discover true contentment.” - Angie
